All parents are members of the WWFF, and as such I would like to invite you to attend the first WWFF meeting for the year. Apart from being an opportunity to meet and greet other members, there are other areas that are of special interest to the school where your input would be much appreciated.  For example, our 10th Anniversary and communication.

All parents are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting which will be held in the Year 4 classroom at Wentworth Primary at 6:30pm on Monday, 26 February. Refreshments will be provided.

FAMILIES & FRIENDS OF WENTWORTH - PRIMARY SCHOOL DISCO FUNDRAISER - STAR WARS - 23 JUNE 2017

It was a great annual School Disco last Friday night and a fitting way to close out a busy term. There was an outstanding turnout and everyone seemed to have had a good time, parents, students and staff alike. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with the families and parents in an informal, relaxed environment.
I would like to thank the Families and Friends of Wentworth for organising such a well organised event; the evening marched on without a hitch. Thank you for your time and effort!
A huge thanks to all the families that donated items for the raffle; the prizes were excellent. Also thanks to the four College Prefects for giving up their Friday evening to help out.  Your contribution was much appreciated.
A total of $850 was raised for the Families and Friends of Wentworth.

Families & Friends of Wentworth - 6 MARCH 2017

An email will be sent to all parents regarding school events that usually require WWFF involvement. Your participation in the WWFF group is always welcome and in some cases it is essential to ensure the smooth running of school activities, such as the Years 4-6 school camp, the school disco and the school production.  It doesn’t matter how much support you can offer the WWFF; it would just be nice to have your involvement with a group of like-minded parents. I would like to encourage all parents and friends to be involved with the WWFF.

Families & Friends of Wentworth - Pre-Production Arrangements

Thanks to those who attended the meeting on Wednesday at the school, we are forming a good strong group of people who wish to assist the school and we all have talents to offer.

The school production costumes are looking fantastic and we discussed ongoing preparation for the 2 rehearsals coming up on the Friday and Monday prior to the show night. Make-up and hair are now on the agenda, we also discussed feeding the cast prior to the show and will need access to the school tech kitchen, the show time has been recommended to start now at 6.30pm which may suit more parents especially those travelling from the city. An email will be sent to parents with the new show time.

Carol and Lisa have volunteered to photograph the children.

We are talking term 4 and pulling together some events for parents and children to enjoy together hopefully one evening in the school grounds once the weather warms, there is also some talk of Christmas carols and if anyone has any music talent to help with the children we need to hear from you.

We are wanting to prepare a school orientation booklet for the 2015 year especially useful for new families in the school, we need your feedback of the content, so please could you send in suggestions as this will come together in term 4. If you are good at desk-top publishing – we need you.

Watch this space for more confirmed details once we have discussed ideas with the school, the next meeting will be Monday 29 October at 2.00pm (first day of term) at the school, all welcome, we’d love your help.

Wentworth Primary Quiz Night Attendance

An evening out with about 28 of our parents and teachers combined gave us 4 strong teams entering in the Whangaparaoa Golf Club quiz night. This was highly enjoyable evening with lots of laughs and a good opportunity to meet other families from our school. Team Twerkers (predominantly teachers representation) which is apparently some sort of a dance, came 4th equal with team ‘ In The Dark’ out of 20 tables entered. Team ‘Wentworth Correctional Officers’ and ‘The Jaffas’ (boasting a large packet of Jaffa sweets) weren’t far behind in the scoring. The highlight of the evening was Kim and Jenny Brabant’s ticket being drawn for ‘play your cards right’ and selecting all of the correct cards to win a whopping $610.00 – well done!

School Production:

Thank you to those who attended last Wednesday's catch-up.  We discussed a few things for this term.

This year's School Production is a Western Musical.  Parents, please keep in mind any clothing that may be suitable for your child’s costume, i.e. checked shirts, jeans, vests, and cowboy hats.  Notices will be sent  out from the school in due course.

Maths Week is 11-16th August and parents are invited to compete alongside the children on the morning of Thursday, 15th August for a team Maths event from 11am. We need parents from each class to be represented, so if you are interested, please speak to Mandy Houseman (Years 0-1), Jenny Brabant (Years 2-3), Lisa Cruz (Years 4-5), or Chrissy Wadsworth (Year 6) if you can come along.

Hygiene:  The children have all been asked to keep the spread of coughs and colds to a minimum by using the hand sanitizer gel and tissues supplied in each classroom, and by coughing/sneezing into their “armbows”. Good correct washing of their hands also goes a long way to prevent germs from spreading. Please regularly encourage your children to do these simply things - they really work!

Social Parent Dinner:  We are organising our first social parent dinner this term.  This will be a great opportunity to meet other parents and grandparents.  The date and venue is still to be confirmed so watch this space…

Next catch-up  is Wednesday, 14 August 2 pm at the school. ALL WELCOME.
